After Avatar was the most successful film in history earning close to $3billion worldwide, 11 years later there has been details confirming that Avatar 2 is on its way.
But not as soon as you think!
Whilst some fans may have forgotten about the loved sci-fi film most would possibly remember it as playing an important cultural role in the era of climate change politics.
Director James Cameron spent $237million pleading for environmental protection and respect for indigenous land becoming one of the biggest and most successful environmental advocates, however, will there be any clear signs of environmental change through Avatar 2?
He has explained that in the second film water will be playing a huge role, and it has taken around a year and a half to master the way they will successfully film scenes underwater using new technology and developing a new motion capture system which has never been done before.
The use of water scenes is to show viewers and fans the importance of water in the world which indicates a possible attempt at creating environmental awareness which was done in the first film.
The second film will specifically be dealing with familial and imprisonment themes, but it has been confirmed that the characters who died in the first film are being brought back as the
antagonists in the second to create an element of surprise.
It has been confirmed that due to the global situation affecting film production Avatar 2 will be released on 22nd December 2022.
If it turns out to be as successful as the first, the Avatar franchise could create up to five movies.
