For Women by Women about Women, the brand-new theatre

Seven young women are hoping to bring thought-provoking and entertaining stories to Edinburgh Fringe festival.

Their company, F-BOMB, which debuts later this year, hopes to showcase a range of different themes, topics and performance styles.

The arts Industry has taken a massive hit during the pandemic. Director of both the Attic Theatre and Tread the Boards John-Robert Partridge said: “The major issue was and has been the lack of clarity from the government on the arts industry and lack of a real plan.

“There has been a lot of hurt from my performers who have been excluded from the chancellors financial aid which has seen many struggles terribly through no fault of their own.”

Mr Partridge believes it could take more than three years to recover and restore all the losses.

F-BOMB is hoping to bring joy to their audiences once normality restores.

They said: “We want our audience to leave feeling moved enough to reflect upon what they have seen, we are often left playing somebody’s wife or daughter.

“Sure, these plays can be moving and excellent to work on but we definitely feel there is not enough light shed on women and what we go through.”

Aware of the backlash they may receive they said: “Just because a play is entirely or mostly women, that doesn’t mean it can’t be enjoyable or meaningful to men.

“We’re trying to battle that idea; women’s stories should be perceived as universal as men’s stories are.”
