The Ice Chef, a rolled ice-cream business on Charminster Avenue, has chosen to work with the #ShareTheOrange campaign in order to create awareness and help find a solution to the devastating Alzheimer’s disease.
Lindsay Lyall, who is the owner of The Ice Chef, made it clear that she is passionate about the topic.
She said: “the world moves too fast, there is not enough time for people to show their feelings about hard matters.”
They sell a chocolate orange and brownie ice cream that costs only £3 where all proceeds go to the charity rather than the business.
This was launched just one week ago the target is to have 15 people a week buying this flavour in order to help with the charity.
#ShareTheOrange campaign hopes to reach a stage where a cure has been found.
The orange represents the weight of the brain as it can shrink by 140g less than a healthy one once the disease has developed.

This special ice-cream weighs the same as the brain would to allow people to understand the impact the disease has.]
Lindsay worked as a volunteer for Alzheimer’s Research and believed she could engage the public to become involved while also promoting her business.
When asked about her charity choice she made it clear she has a personal connection with the charity through family members experiences.
Being a past therapist Lindsay believes: “It is good that they have to engage about the disease, it gives people space to talk and express their emotions.”
When making the ice cream customers have to stand and watch which helps relationships be formed between the owner and customers.
