Mushy peas to jellied eels: The vape flavours Brits want the most

According to reports, upwards of three million people currently vape in the UK. In light of recent news announcing the upcoming ban on disposable vapes, following the revelation that five million are thrown away every week, people will be looking for other ways to get their smoking sensation.

With this in mind, UK vape shop ICE Headshop was keen to find out more about the nation’s vaping habits, and so surveyed 2,000 UK adults to conclude the flavours they would like to see introduced.

Despite the festive season being a few months away, Christmas Tree ranks as the flavour Brits most want to try. A traditional staple, the trees usually have a rich, menthol-like fragrance, perfect for a cool sensation.

This somewhat unusual choice boasted 12.05% of the votes, according to the study, making it the most wanted flavour amongst participants.

Placing second, the classic lunchtime snack, Salt and Vinegar Crisps, was voted by 11.75% of the participants. And as brits know, nothing can beat this famous duo.

In joint third place as the vape flavours the UK are eager to be introduced, ranks Burger and Fresh Cut Grass, with a total of 10% of people voting for them, respectively.

Whilst burgers are one of the most popular foods worldwide, freshly cut grass releases a chemical called green leaf volatiles that has an odour associated with chopping fruit and vegetables.

Another fast-food classic claims fourth place, with Pepperoni Pizza gaining 8.90% of the votes. Filled with a mixture of spices and seasonings, the flavour could be great for an on-the-go, mouth watering replica.

Rolling in fifth place is British delicacy, Mushy Peas, with 4.45% of survey participants voting for this as a flavour they would like to taste. Perfect company for fish and chips, the nutritious side could leave you with a taste of nostalgia.

Dan Currey, Director of UK vape shop ICE Headshop, commented on the findings:

“Whilst the nation’s favourite vape flavours are perhaps not so surprising, it’s really interesting to learn about the more niche choices Brits would most like to see created. “There are some weird and wonderful flavours that already exist out there, but the results that came out in our study were definitely on the more unusual side! Christmas tree aside, which we’re definitely intrigued to try for ourselves, it’s clear to see that the nation are big fans of food-related vaping liquids!”

Although UK vapers are willing to try out more unique flavours, it is apparent that Brits like to play it safe when it comes to their everyday vape preference, sticking with fruity flavours as the ultimate favourite.

Across the nation, people are swapping their cigarettes for vapes to experience the smoking sensation without the taste and smell of tobacco. It is reported that 3 million people currently vape in the UK, Reusable vape kits can be a great alternative to saving money and helping the environment whilst continuing to enjoy a wide variety of e-liquid flavours.

In light of recent news announcing the upcoming ban on disposable vapes as it was found that five million are thrown away every week, reusable vape kits are set to become more popular than ever before.

Ranking as the flavour the UK wants to try the most, surprisingly is Christmas Tree. A traditional staple for the festive season, the trees are fragrant enough to fill a home, and possibly a vape. Whilst 12.05% of participants chose this wild option, the trees usually have rich, menthol-like fragrances unlike the cinnamon and mulled wine aroma we would usually associate ourselves with.

The second most popular flavour the UK would like to try is Salt and Vinegar Crisps, a lunchtime favourite. Opposing the sweet taste of fruit, this savoury option was voted by 11.75% of the participants. And as Brits know, nothing can beat this famous duo.

Joint third, Burger and Fresh Cut Grass are flavours the UK would like to see as a vaping option with a total of 10% of people voting for them. With burgers being one of the most popular foods worldwide, it is no surprise there is a desire to have this smell and taste closer to you everyday, whilst the scent of fresh cut grass reminds us of food. But this could also work as a great hack for those who suffer from hayfever, to truly experience the summer sensation without the hassle.

An absolute classic for a simple and tasty meal, ranking as the fourth flavour people would like to try is the Pepperoni Pizza. A total of 8.90% of participants picked this as their potential future flavour, and whilst the dish is filled with a mix of spices and seasoning, this option could become a favourite by using more pepperoni than the average pizza holds with less cheese and sauce, to truly accentuate the spices and flavours.

In fifth place, Mushy Peas has rolled in as a contender with 4.45% of survey participants voting for this as a flavour they would like to taste. The perfect company for fish and chips, this nutritious side dish is considered a British delicacy despite its off putting exterior, this as a vape flavour could leave you with a taste of nostalgia.

Methodology:

  1. ICE Headshop sought to determine the UK’s favourite vape flavour, and in turn, what they would like to see as a future flavour.

  2. A participant study was conducted with 2,000 UK adults

  3. All data was collected September 2023 and is accurate as of then.
